Press Meet Held with Taekwondo Masters in Jubilee Hills; Call for Athletes to Participate in Large Numbers
Hyderabad, August 16: Grand preparations are underway for the prestigious 1st World Open Taekwondo Championship – 2026, being organised for the first time in India. A special press meet was held today in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, with Taekwondo masters, academy coaches and organisers to announce the details of the championship.
The mega championship will be held on August 21, 22 and 23, 2026, at the G.M.C. Balayogi Indoor Stadium, Gachibowli, Hyderabad.
The organisers stated that athletes from India and several other countries are expected to participate. Taekwondo masters appealed to athletes from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and other states to participate in large numbers and make the championship a grand success.
Various Competition Categories
The championship is being organised under the aegis of JR International Taekwondo Academy & Amical Sports Academy. Competitions will be conducted in the Peewee, Sub-Junior, Junior, Senior and Super Senior categories.

- Group Poomsae
- Speed Kicks
- Speed Punches
- 3 Minutes Air Punching
- 3 Minutes Air Kicking
Grand Master Jayanth Reddy, Amical Sports Federation Founder Veena Vahini, and Organising Manager Raju Rathod stated that the primary objective of the championship is to encourage athletes and provide them with valuable international-level competition experience.

Registrations for the championship have already commenced. Interested Taekwondo athletes can register through their respective masters and coaches or directly contact the Organising Manager.

Efforts for Recognition of Certificates
Grand Master Jayanth Reddy stated that efforts would be made to obtain official recognition for the certificates issued to participating athletes so that they can be useful for sports quota opportunities and state and central government employment, subject to applicable rules and official recognition.
He said discussions would be held with the Telangana State Government, the State Sports Minister, Chief Minister Sri A. Revanth Reddy, and the Telangana Olympic Committee to explore further benefits for athletes participating in the international championship.
International Participation
According to Organising Manager Raju Rathod, athletes from countries including the USA, Germany, Greece, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Zambia, Mauritius, Uzbekistan, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Nepal, along with India, are expected to participate.
He further stated that Taekwondo athletes from more than 20 Indian states are showing interest in participating in the championship.
He appealed to Taekwondo masters and academy coaches from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to encourage their students to participate in large numbers and make the mega championship a grand success.

Madhusudhan, Rajender, Ramu, Suman and others.
The masters, academy coaches and organisers assured their full cooperation for the successful conduct of the championship.
